Giant Robots are awesome. Anybody who says differently probably got beat up for bringing GoBots to the party back in the day.  So with Giant Robots being awesome, and me to the best of my recollection never giving Bare Rose any love. Here is your fashion(ish) post.

Tymmerie Thorne and Jerremy Darwin hosted a Halloween Party last night for the SL Bloggers group and their friends.  Inspired by the evil laboratory feel of the invitation, I found the perfect Mad Scientist costume at Schadenfreude.  Add a little botox and I was ready to party.

*psst* I have a confession to make.  I have been worshiping exotic goddesses, besides the holy couture trinity (and yes I was sad that one of the trinity has left Second Life).

Fast Tube by Casper

The dread magnificent and great goddess I have been worshipping  is none other than the most spectacular Munchflower Zaius, of Nomine. *cue screaming undead gothic fangirls*.  And OMG. She won my still beating severed heart even before she gave me the most incredible Sugar Skull skin as a gift <333….and ZOMG, she is about to release a whole line of them!  If you Plurk she posted a few teaser pictures there already, and Achariya posted them with permission on her blog too.   So yes. I am just seriously dying to wear those incredible skins!!!!!

It is amazing how perfectly her skin goes with the new Day of the Dead themed dress from Grim Bros.  Cutea Benelli has made the most wonderfully insanely amazing Dia de los Muertos gown ever!  It is so amazingly gorgeous I just nearly fainted when I saw it, just wonderfully flamboyant and fabulous.

atomiccatrina

In fact I would say the goddess Cutea  is on a total roll right now.  She also released a very festive dress called Viva la Catrina that comes with an adorable skin too!

And, if you even join a fashion group just to get cool freebies,  then join the Rotten Toe group, because these Vision of Death eyes are sooooo to die for!!!!

I will not attempt to hide my utter love of the Day of the Dead holiday.  I have posted and written elsewhere about this mania already.  And now you, my friends, will be subjected to it.  One of the little articles of decor that I simply adore about DoD are the nichos, or little dioramas that show funny scenes of dead people doing all manner of things: having their hair done, fighting, drinking, etc.  And when I found the utterly cool Dia de Los Muertos Bride and Groom Avatar sets by Gerstley Quinnell, I just went totally bonkers, elated to have the chance to create my very own misbehaving satirical dead Second Life nicho.

deadnewlyweds2atomic

I was aided in this fashion-induced dementia by the gracious Isolahara Catteneo of +mudshake, who gave permission for me to take pictures in her lovely show houses.  Which, by the way, are utterly splendid.  She has several DoD/Mexican themed houses that are utterly adorable.  Dancien also very patiently agreed to be dressed up and play dead house with me.  Here  above we are posing in Frida’s Dream House.

deadnewlywedsatomic

I must say Dancien was a very good sport, because naturally when Juana plays house she thinks of marital strife, and poisonings, and all the other wretched little things married folk get up to.  Here we are in the Skull in Love house, which is a delightful little dwelling.  Isolahara has such a wonderful happy vibe going, with bright colors and wonderful little touches like swirls and just cute fabrics and furniture.  Its sort of a very happy shabby chic–hard to describe but oh so wonderful.  I have bought several of her houses, and they are just adorable in every way.  They come furnished with items that are well chosen and match wonderfully too.

The avatars in this set are splendid as well.  The skins are detailed and wonderful, and the outfits are both semi-traditional and kind of cheeky.  I was also impressed with the eyes, which are stylized marigold flowers.  The avatars come also with a shape, but Juana looks best in her own shape.  I love the outfits as well….they make the avatars look wonderfully like the little stylized skeletons one sees in the previously-mentioned nichos.

Near the end I think Dancien got slightly impatient though….*grin*

Special Thanks to Isolahara Catteneo for her gracious permission.

I can never decide on a Halloween costume. So, this year I’m starting a bit earlier than usual and have a few picked out.
costumes
Reasonable Desires‘ Cigarette Girl costume gives cigarettes on touch, or you can drop in your own treat to hand out. I added Blowpop‘s Fishnet Stockings and Tesla‘s sky-high, six-inch Vixen Desire heels. The Abyss MarionetteDoll, Mystery, one of a trio released last year, is a complete avatar with shape, skin, hair, shoes, and a couple of different texture options. The Ancient Tree Kimono Shop makes some of the finest kimonos and obis on the grid, in my opinion. Each one is a work of art. I particularly like the Blood Angel kimono with the Dragon obi.

Descent

My favorite costume this season, though, comes from the Ray Ceasar art exhibit held at Hotel Dare a couple of months ago. Descent was designed by Marie Lauridsen of Milk Motion and is inspired by one of Ray Ceasar’s works of art. The costume replaces the avatar legs with tentacles and the custom skin and shape complete the look and the hair was specially created by Curl Up And Dye.

How will you dress up for Halloween? Happy Costume Hunting!

Additional Style Notes:
Skin: 5th and Oxford Audrey, Exodi Shiloh
Gloves: 5th and Oxford (formerly Tete a Pied)
Eyes: Vetro by Exodi
Hair: Truth and Tiny Bird

So, I was at Fri.day the other day, all excited to get some new hair. I was paying about the least attention humanly possible and holding like 9 separate conversations while I found the style I wanted. I quickly hit the Buy button, thinking I’d bought brown and actually buying blonde. (Hey, Fri.day peeps? You make awesome hair. Can you make the color swatches bigger? Thaaaanks.) I thought ‘oh well, blonde is fine! No one will care if I’m blonde!’

I was wrong.

The next time I saw Dancien (we live on the same parcel) I was informed that, and I quote:

“We of Dancien do not like Blonde Iris”

So this week’s Dress Up piece is blonde hair. I built a casual, autumny, fall, preppy-pretty-princess outfit around it.

I love these Sailor Striped Sweaters from Armidi. I don’t get the recent Armidi hate from the blogosphere. Armidi is great! They have excellent pieces that you can mix and match and there’s nothing wrong with having something everyone else has. I garentee that unless you made it yourself, no matter how indie of a blogger you are, there are 500 other fashionistas running around in your same clothes.

The jeans are from DP*yumyum* and are my favorite on the grid right now. I wear these constantly. They come in 5 colors and will go with anything. They also look just like my fav jeans in RL and I looooove the soft textures and well-done prim legs.

The shoes, of course, are an oldie but goodie from Shiny Things. No matter how many slouchy boots are out there, there are none as good as these. I swear. I’ve had them forever, in every color, and they’ve never looked out of date no matter what I’ve paired them with. If you don’t have them, get your butt to Shiny Things and try them. You’ll be happy.

Outfit Details:

Hair: Fri.day-Quinn-Jaded Blonde

Top: Armidi-Sailor Striped Sweater

Jeans: DP*yumyum*-Jeans 05

Shoes: Shiny Things-Comfy Boots-Brown

Ok, so I’m mildly obsessed with sweatshirts in SL. I love making my AV look like she’s comfy. I realized the other day that I must have upwards of 50 different sweatshirts by different creators. So I thought, hey, instead of pairing this with jeans, let’s make it dressy and 80′s!

dressup2full

Although the end result came out looking a bit like an ad for American Outfitters (and yes, I have that evil gold lame spandex miniskirt in rl too!) The sweatshirt is from Niniko and is one of my favorites. I love it because it’s shorter in the front and is really good for layering with other stuff. In this case, it’s layered over the bottom part of a metallic minidress. I was feeling that my arms were a bit bare, so I looked and looked for some fingerless gloves before discovering that I had awesome ones in my inventory. These are the gloves from the Pirate Annie costume put out last Halloween as a joint effort between Torrid Midnight, Kari, Celestial Studios, and Canimal. Sorry if I missed anyone there, I didn’t have time to google. It’s no longer availible, but maybe they’ll put it out again soon for this Halloween. The suedey, fringy, wonderful boots are from Usagui and the little fringy bits on top are flexi. How cute is that? The hair, of course, is the Post Ironic from Curio from Hair Fair 09. I picked up a LOT of hair at Hair Fair this year, but this is one of the about 6 styles from it that I keep coming back to. It looks pretty specialized, but you’d be amazed at how often you use it. The skin is my new default skin, Anya from My Ugly Dorothy. I still can’t put my finger on exactly what I love so much about these skins, but they’re so soft and I adore the lips and nose. Most of the skins have a smattering of freckles that looks just too sweet. They’re not for everyone, but if you haven’t tried some demos yet, please do.

Hair: Curio-Post-Ironic (Wheat blonde)

Skin: My Ugly Dorothy-Anya 06

Sweatshirt: Niniko-Used Sweats

Dress: KL-Metallic Mini Dress (Gold)

Boots: Usagui-Fringe Boot

SL is being a bitch today and won’t let me teleport or examine stuff in my inventory, so no slurls this post. Sorry!
