So, I was cruising around the virtual clusterfuck known as Second Life when my legions of highly trained spy ferrets (Now known as Dave) informed me of some things going on that I should maybe look at. And so I did. And what I saw, frankly disgusted me. One of the big cries against the whole content theft thing is that we’re stealing from people and not big soulless corporate monsters. But does that argument still apply when the “people” start acting like greedy corporate monsters? The Dave Ferrets informed me of a SL clothing maker who has a pretty sweet racket going on. I thought it best for one of my alter egos known as “Dance Master D Cash Money Something Or Other” show you.
You know, that’s alright. Charge whatever you want. It’s your stuff. Honestly!
Okay, this is kind of messed up. Not everybody has the same size as you. Well they might if you’re one of those giant Beefcake max slider goons. But I’m not judging (okay maybe a little).
Ohhhh I get it now. You are going to make people pay 30,000L so they can properly wear your shit by fitting it for them. That makes total sense. I guess when we all join we’ll be part of some elite caste of digital consumer monkeys and you’ll deliver us fabulous freebies as well as making sure we don’t fuck up your outfits by adjusting them ourselves. Oh wait, you haven’t handed out a freebie since the group was free? Interesting. Are you a Republican per chance?
So maybe in this we can find a solution for content theft as well. Tone down the Wal-Mart in SL and bring back the mom and pop operations.
And now, for a side rant.
Redgrave…seriously? On behalf of everybody (mostly me). SHUT THE FUCK UP. Every single goddamn time somebody comes out with a skin we have your overpricing ass screaming “THIEF”. In the words of The Almighty (Ronnie James Dio for those of you just joining in)…BLOW ME. Seriously, when you stop naming your skins using celebrities and using their faces to advertise as well as their names you might get to say something. Until then, you get to shut the fuck up.
